InstallOcean was founded in 1989 to provide specialist marine environmental data acquisition and interpretation skills. Since then its high level of service and expertise has established its systems as 'industry standard' for many offshore applications, such as new-build platforms, FPSOs and rig refurbishments.

Fugro GEOS acquired InstallOcean Limited in March 2002. This will build on InstallOcean's reputation and allow the continued development of its products and software through new investment. InstallOcean will also gain access to Fugro GEOS' office network, and its data integration, analysis and distribution expertise, as well as the world-wide infrastructure of the Fugro Group.
